Purpose of this site:The main aim of this site is to provide information and support to all stepfamilies. To create a Stepfamily Community About the StepfamilyzoneIn
March of 1997 the first newsletter of the then Step by Step: Helping
Stepfamilies in South Australia was published. Being in a Stepfamily,
my wife and I found that there was very little information available to
stepparents in South Australia.During my final year of university I
decided to research the subject with the view of establishing an
Association in South Australia. The research showed that there was a
need for such an association. It was still a couple of years later
before I decided to form Step by Step.In November 1997 we established
our first website. In 1999 Step by Step became an incorporated body and
the name changed to the Stepfamily Association of South Australia Inc.
But there was still a need to look at ways of providing information to
stepfamilies across Australia, and therefore the formation of
Stepfamily Australia. There have been a great number of achievements
since 1997 and so much has been accomplished. But there is still much
more to do. Mission StatementOur aim is to actively promote the POSITIVE aspects of Stepfamily Life. Stepfamilies can WORK and be SUCCESSFUL. We believe that providing appropriate information is the first step towards successful stepfamily life. PhilosophyTo
enhance Stepfamilies quality of life, we are committed to providing
information and support to families and organizations, which address
their physical, spiritual, social, emotional and cultural needs. We believe each Stepfamily is different and unique and should have every opportunity to maximize their relationships. We believe each Stepfamily's dignity should be maintained at all times and their rights as human beings, respected. We
are committed to local community involvement to enable stepfamilies to
obtain affordable and accessible information and support. We are committed to providing and promoting an Internet website which enables stepfamily members to express their individuality. We
believe that a comprehensive continuing resource program, which is
regularly updated to meet the changing relationship trends, is
essential to meet the needs of stepfamilies in the community. We are committed to a continuing quality improvement program in all areas of service provision. |
