First Day of School for a proud Stepmother Print E-mail
Yesterday was my step daughters first day in Year 1. I like all mothers I assume had been looking forward to this day for weeks. I had taken her to pick out her tiny little school dress, her first school bag and her shoes with laces which she's learning to tie. We covered and named books and pencils and we talked about what BIG school would be like.

But yesterday all the excitement came to a happy ending. Great excitement in the morning followed by a photo shoot in the front garden. My dad came to wish his little girl a great first day. My boyfriends mum came for the photo shoot and was holding back tears the whole time as was I. My little girl is no longer a baby but a big school girl that can write her own name and do things for herself instead on someone helping her.

Once we found her spot in her class room. (After a small move because she didn't want to be between 2 boys) it was time to leave. I have a large lump in my throat as I walked out the door seeing her waving happily from her desk.

As one memory is made another is in the making.

With love from a proud Step Mother
