Stay Hydrated During the Summer Print E-mail

Summer days can get hot, and the best way to beat the heat is to stay Hydrated! Becoming Dehydrated can be dangerous to your health, so read the following for tips on staying cool and hydrated.

Steps

  1. Before you go out for the day, make sure you have eaten a good breakfast and had lots to drink (non-alcoholic beverages). You also may want to put on sunscreen, depending on your activities.
  2. Make sure to bring a cooler with you, if possible, to carry water and healthy snacks to keep you energized. Try fresh fruit or granola bars, or if you want something sweet, try Fruit leather. Its a healthy alternative to candy.
  3. If you can't bring a cooler, like if you are hiking, try a camel pack. Its a backpack but holds water, like a camel's hump.
  4. Picnicking?? Try foods like watermelon and oranges to keep your hunger and thirst away.

Tips

  • Bring ice pack in your cooler rather than ice; if they melt, the mess is contained.
  • Don't bring anything damageable, like ceramic mugs.

Warnings

  • Don't get too dehydrated!
  • On the flip side, don't drink so much that you'll need the toilet if there's none around!
