Can anyone help with this question?

I have found the following link where it does mention stepparent adoption.

What about adoption by step-parents?
You are a step-family if you or your partner has a child by a previous relationship who lives with you. There are a number of ways in which you can legally formalise the relationship between the child and the step-parent. One of these options is adoption. Please refer to The Step-parent Adoption Guide for information about the effects of a step-parent adoption, the alternatives to adoption, the criteria to apply, and the steps involved in the process. Please consider your options carefully; a decision to permanently sever the legal ties between a child and their birth parent is a serious one. Adoption may or may not be the most suitable option for your family. For example, it may be more appropriate to seek an alternative to adoption or to pursue the adoption once the child has turned 18 through Adult Adoption. If you are interested in pursuing step-parent adoption please contact Family Information and Adoption Services for further information.

It is the best thing you can ever do. Espcially if the father of your child is not involved. It really bought my family together and it eliminated all the hassle we were going through with my ex.

My husband adopted my daughter last year. You need to contact the department of child protection and ask them to send you the information and step by step kit on step parent adoption. Then ring the family court of western australia, speak to adoption services and ask them to send you the forms and kits required to do the application through them. There is a mass of paperwork involved but by doing it ourselves all it cost was the price of the psych interviews for the report ($450) and postagage and photocopying etc. If you want more info im on the Stepfamily zone forums website. If you post on there I can give you heaps more info.

My husband wishes to adopt my son, but we are unsure of all the legal proceedings we will need to go through. And how to apply. Plus costings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
